Lift Servicing Across Kent — Stairlifts, Homelifts, Platform Lifts and Ceiling Hoists

Regular servicing is one of the most important things you can do to keep your lift safe, reliable and running smoothly. Like any mechanical equipment, lifts need routine inspection and preventative maintenance to catch developing faults before they become costly breakdowns.

Mobilitybase provides professional lift servicing across Kent for residential and commercial customers. We service stairlifts, homelifts, through-floor lifts, platform lifts and ceiling hoists — covering Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Canterbury, Medway, Dartford, Gravesend, Folkestone and all surrounding areas.

We service lifts installed by Mobilitybase and lifts installed by other companies. Whatever make or model you have, our engineers will carry out a thorough inspection and leave your lift in the best possible condition.

Why Annual Servicing Matters

Many people only call an engineer when something goes wrong — but by that point, a small fault has often become a larger and more expensive problem. Annual servicing helps you avoid that situation entirely. Here's why it matters:

  • Safety — lifts carry people. Regular safety checks ensure all sensors, brakes and circuits are working correctly and that your lift meets current safety standards.

  • Reliability — a serviced lift is far less likely to break down unexpectedly, particularly in cold weather when batteries and mechanical components are under greater strain.

  • Longevity — routine lubrication, adjustment and inspection significantly extends the working life of your lift, protecting your investment.

  • Warranty compliance — in many cases, annual servicing is required to maintain your manufacturer's warranty. A lapsed service can void cover.

  • Peace of mind — knowing your lift has been inspected by a qualified engineer gives you and your family confidence that it's safe to use every day.

What's Included in a Service Visit

Every Mobilitybase service visit is carried out by a qualified engineer and follows a thorough inspection process. During your service visit we will:

  • Inspect and test all safety circuits and limit switches

  • Test and assess battery condition and charging systems

  • Inspect motors, gearboxes and brake units

  • Check rollers, carriages and all moving components for wear

  • Inspect and clean the drive rail or track

  • Lubricate all relevant mechanical components

  • Tighten fixings and adjust alignment where required

  • Test remote controls, seat mechanisms and swivel functions (stairlifts)

  • Inspect door interlocks and safety edges (platform lifts and homelifts)

  • Test the full travel of the lift from top to bottom

  • Check and test the charging strip and parking positions

  • Identify any worn or developing faults and advise you clearly before any additional work is carried out

If we identify worn components or developing faults during the service, we will always advise you and provide a clear cost before carrying out any additional work. There are no surprise charges.

Warranty and Service Plans — Annual Cover with Added Peace of Mind

As well as one-off service visits, Mobilitybase offers annual warranty and service plans that combine your yearly service with priority breakdown cover, available for stairlifts, homelifts and ceiling hoists.

Plans start from £95 per year for stairlifts and ceiling hoists, and from £145 per year for homelifts. All plans include an annual service visit. Silver and Gold plans add 24/7 priority breakdown cover including evenings and weekends, with Gold covering all parts and labour at no extra cost.

How Often Should I Service My Lift?

For most residential stairlifts and homelifts, an annual service is sufficient provided the lift is used normally and no faults have developed in between. For commercial lifts, lifts in care homes or any lift subject to heavy daily use, a six-monthly service schedule is worth considering.

As a general guide:

  • Residential stairlift, homelift or platform lift — once per year as a minimum

  • Ceiling hoist in a private home — once per year

  • Commercial platform lift or lift in a care home — every six months

  • Any lift used by multiple users daily — every six months

  • Any lift that has had a recent repair or fault — service recommended within three months of the repair

If you're unsure how recently your lift was last serviced, call us on 0208 936 3060. We can carry out an inspection and give you an honest assessment of the lift's current condition.
